I'm looking for a fab beef stew recipe. I have often tried to make beef stew and my meat is too tough, my broth tastes weird, and it just doesn't have that good comfort taste. Please feel free to comment with suggestions or links to recipes!

I do not have a good recipe, but I don't have many recipes, I am not a real recipe follower, BUT that soup looks so yummy.

Is it true that the secret to a great beef stew or pot roast is a slightly fattier meat (lean gets tough) and long, low, slow cooking? My mom makes pot roast with too lean a cut of meat, which gets dry and tough, so my sister and I pick at it until my dad cubes everything and fries it up in tons of butter to make incredible hash the next morning!
